Caminhos Language Centre Rio de Janeiro

Caminhos Language Centre offers quality Portuguese lessons in a friendly, relaxed environment. Just five minutes away from the famous Ipanema beach, Caminhos is in the perfect location to take advantage of this beautiful city. The Centre is not only a language school, but is also well-known for its charity work, providing support to local underprivileged children through its social program 'Mais Caminhos'.

Lessons are based on communication and include activities, games and sometimes even cooking to help make learning interesting and interactive. Students can choose to focus on standard Portuguese, prepare for an examination, or to combine their studies with cultural and touristic activities or a volunteer placement in the local community. Students are split into groups dependent on their Portuguese level and beginners are divided into two halves, with those who already speak another similar Latin language fluently (i.e. Italian or Spanish) placed together as in the school's experience these students will progress quicker at the beginning.

The school is spread over three levels of a colorful building in Ipanema, a very safe and trendy neighborhood with plenty of great cafes and restaurants. At the front of the school is an iconic piece of artwork called 'Recyclable Robots'. The schools' classrooms are fully air conditioned to ensure students are comfortable during the warmer months.

Caminhos offers a variety of free weekly activities including beach volleyball matches, film nights, samba lessons, football games, tours of the city and capoeira classes. Students can also choose to take part in additional activities such as cooking classes and tours of different parts of the city and region at a small extra cost.
